Linus Hunkeler started to play the trumpet when he was only 9 years old. He studied at the Bern University of the Arts (Swiss Jazz School) as well as the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, among others with Bert Joris, Matthieu Michel, Stephan Geiser, Nat Su and graduated with a Master of Arts in Music (Major Performance) in 2011. In 2011 he represented the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts at the Jazz Meeting of the International Association of Schools of Jazz in São Paulo, Brazil.

Nowadays he plays in different formations, such as the Lucerne Jazz Orchestra, the Zurich Jazz Orchestra, Beat Kellers <10>, Brandy Butler & the Fonxionaires. As a freelance artist he plays numerous concerts in Switzerland and abroad. He performed, for instance, at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Gurtenfestival, Openair St. Gallen and Langnau Jazz Nights together with musicians like Dave Douglas, Ray Anderson, Juan Mungia, Sandy Patton, Claudio Puntin, Dave Liebman, Hayden Chisholm, Ohad Talmor, Nils Wogram and Ed Partyka.
